I write about the human relationship with place, with a special emphasis on parks and protected areas, wildlife, wilderness, conservation, stewardship, maritime culture, and recreation. My work has appeared in Dive Training Magazine, Sea History Magazine, VisittheUSA.com, CNN.com, and 2020’s America’s Marine Sanctuaries (Smithsonian Books) and has been featured on NOAA, USFWS, and US Coast Guard websites and publications, including an in-depth web feature series focusing on the National Marine Sanctuary System. I has a BS in biology, an MS in oceanography, and several decades of experience as a conservation professional and communicator for the federal government.
